While vanilla Minecraft offers a range of exciting experiences, one of the most thrilling aspects of the game is the ability to integrate mods. These modifications elevate gameplay to unprecedented heights by introducing new blocks, items, and even dimensions. However, adding mods goes beyond simply moving them into a folder and launching the game. Minecraft Forge, an API for mods, is essential for accessing the vast array of available modifications. Although it is only available for the Java Edition, the installation process is straightforward. To simplify your path, we have carefully prepared this guide from GODLIKE host to help you through the installation process.
On the left side of the site, there is a list of versions; select the desired one and download the files.
With the required .jar file at hand, you are ready to install Forge on your Minecraft client. If you encounter difficulties opening the file, ensure that the latest version of Java is installed on your system.
Locate the Minecraft Forge .jar file and open it. In the application, make sure Install client is selected.
Confirm that the installation directory is correct, then click OK. After a few minutes, you will receive a successful installation message.
MacOS
Locate the Forge .jar file and open it.
IMPORTANT
If the file does not open, go to System Preferences, then Security & Privacy.
In the General section, find the application and click Open Anyway.
Once opened, ensure Install client is selected.
Confirm that the installation directory is correct, then click OK.
After a few minutes, you should receive a successful installation message.
Accessing Your Profile
At this point, you should be ready to select your Forge profile and click Play to start your modded adventure. If your profile is not found, go to the Installations tab at the top of the launcher and enable the Modded option in the top right corner.
Using the CurseForge App
In some situations, you may prefer using the CurseForge app to install and manage Minecraft Forge. This app simplifies the process, allowing you to install any version of Forge with just a few clicks, making setup easier.
In the app, click the Create Custom Profile button.
Enter the desired name and version of Minecraft.
Set the Game Type to Forge, and then optionally select a specific version of Forge.
Click Create to complete the setup process.
You can now select your custom profile and start the game.
Minecraft Forge Install issues
Java/JDK Error When Opening .jar File
This error typically indicates that Java is not installed correctly on your system. Make sure you have the latest version of Java installed. If the issue persists, restart your computer and try installing again.
Unknown Developer Error on macOS
macOS by default restricts the opening of files from unknown developers. Go to the Security & Privacy section in System Preferences to allow the file to open. This option becomes available after the first failed attempt, allowing you to restart and continue the Forge installation.
Missing Modded Profile in the Launcher
Sometimes modded profiles may be hidden in the Minecraft launcher as Mojang does not directly support them. To make your profiles visible, go to the Installations tab at the top of the launcher and check the Modded option. This action will show all modded profiles, allowing you to select and play with them.
By following these steps, you will be able to seamlessly integrate Minecraft Forge into your game, opening up a world of modifications and enhanced gameplay.
