How to Upload Your Existing World to a Palworld Server

If you've run a local or single-player Palworld session before getting a dedicated server, you can easily transfer your world data to the new server.

TIP

Order your own Palworld server

Search the local world files

You can easily access your save files through the "open folder" button available in-game.

Step 1: Launch Palworld and click "Start Game" to see your list of worlds.

Step 2: Choose the world you want, then click the folder icon in the bottom left.

Step 3: Your world files will appear, which you can upload to your server.

Uploading the Current World

After locating your existing Palworld world files, you can replace the current world files on your server with them.

IMPORTANT

When transferring a local world to a server, the host player will lose their character progress, as the dedicated server will take over the host character's role. To avoid losing important items or Pals, it's best for the host to store as much as possible before moving the world files.

Step 1: First of all, stop your server.

Step 2: Access the General Settings and connect to the server via SFTP.

Step 3: Using SFTP, navigate to the path /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0

Next, open the final folder, which is typically named with a random string of characters. And delete all existing files in this folder.

Step 4: After that, dump all the files in this folder, as they will need to be replaced with existing world files.

Step 5: Upload your existing world files, but make sure to exclude the WorldOption.sav file, into the now-empty server directory.

IMPORTANT

Uploading the WorldOption.sav file will completely overwrite your server's configuration settings. Therefore, it does not need to be uploaded to this folder.

Step 6: Once everything is uploaded, start your server.

If you followed the instructions correctly, your existing save will work on your server.
