This update brings a wealth of advanced endgame features and refined mechanics centered around an island of the same name, the latest addition to the game's universe. Expand Your Collection of Pals

Unsurprisingly, one of the main activities here is expanding your collection of Pals. The Sakurajima Update enriches the game with 14 brand-new Pals and ten new subspecies. While some of these can be found across various world map regions or under specific conditions, most have settled on Sakurajima Island. Exploring the island’s mysteries is a great way to enhance your Paldex and discover new loyal allies for your journey.

Face New Alpha Pals

I also encourage you to test your strength against the newly introduced Alpha Pals. Outside of dungeons, you have the opportunity to challenge level 54 Menasting Terra or level 55 Knocklem. These battles not only offer thrilling challenges and valuable rewards but also significantly enhance your squad's maximum level. Both of these powerful Ground-type Pals are indispensable in battles against Electric-type foes.

Confront Saya, the New Faction Commander

A vivid reminder of the stakes being raised is the latest tower adversary. Saya, the leader of the Moonflower faction, stands resolute in the heart of the island at the aptly named Moonflower Tower. Her Pal, Selyne, serves as the tower's most powerful boss yet, boasting an impressive level 55. Prepare for a fierce confrontation.

Beyond the enticing rewards and the prestige of victory, defeating these two (along with other faction leaders) unlocks Hard Mode for all bosses. Overcoming Saya and Selyne is merely the first step in tackling the toughest challenges Palworld has to offer.

Capture Selyne for Your Collection

After the grueling battle with Selyne in Moonflower Tower, it's only natural to want one for your collection. However, obtaining her is no easy feat, requiring a combination of specific conditions. Key points to consider:

• Selyne only appears during the new Meteorite Events. She can be captured exclusively during these events, distinct from the Supply Drop Events within the same category. The event selection is random.
• The event must occur in the Sakurajima region. If it triggers elsewhere, expect encounters with Xenovaders or, if you're lucky, Xenogard. Selyne will only appear when the event happens on the new island.
• These events operate on a timed schedule. The community estimates their frequency at roughly once every three hours of gameplay. This timing is independent of the in-game day cycle and is dictated by real-world time.

Efficient Character Progression in Palworld

This combination of factors requires you to be in the right place at the right time, with a bit of luck. Keep track of when Meteorite/Supply Drop Events occur, or keep them in mind. When the three-hour mark approaches, position yourself in Sakurajima and hope for a Meteorite Event. When the stars align, make sure to neutralize any Syndicate members or hostile Pals nearby. You wouldn’t want a hasty NPC to rob you of the chance to capture Selyne.

Gather Valuable Scrap Piles

Scrap piles, a feature introduced in the Sakurajima Update, are a rich source of treasures. Players can sift through these piles to uncover valuable loot. Although they are not tied to specific locations, these piles are scattered across the map.

However, the quality of loot depends on the location. Scrap piles in areas populated by powerful enemies often yield better rewards. From Dog Coins to expensive ammunition and even Legendary Spheres, the most valuable treasures I've found in these piles were on Sakurajima Island.

Find Elusive Lifmunk Effigies

Among the many system updates in the Sakurajima Expansion is the addition of new Lifmunk Effigies. Along with them come two additional upgrade opportunities that increase your capture chances near Statues of Power. Considering the difficulty of capturing Pals at this new level, finding these effigies will be extremely useful. All the new Lifmunk Effigies are hidden in intricate and inconspicuous locations across Sakurajima Island, so I recommend being highly observant, examining every large mushroom and steep cliff.

Explore the Cherry Blossom Cave Dungeon

Every major biome in Palworld is accompanied by themed dungeons, and the Sakurajima region is no exception. It features unique dungeons in the Cherry Blossom Cave. These dungeons stand out not only for their Japanese theme but also for housing Alpha versions of new Pals.

The rewards make these dungeons worth your effort. Rare accessories and blueprints await those who defeat the Alpha Boss, as well as treasure chests at the dungeon's end. For those eager to challenge the new raid boss, these dungeons are a must, as they appear to be the sole source of Blazamut Ryu Slab fragments.

Build Oil Refining Fortifications

The Sakurajima Update added five additional technology levels, bringing new weapons and armor. At the core of these advancements lies a new resource—oil. Crafting these new items requires an expensive oil extractor, which is itself a huge consumer of power, and oil is scarce in earlier regions.

Selling and Merging Pals in Palworld

Unlike other areas, Sakurajima is rich with locations ideal for oil extraction. There are plenty of points where you can set up multiple extractors (along with a large power plant) and patiently wait for the oil to accumulate. I recommend establishing a base on the island to secure this vital resource. All the endgame content, whether it's an oil platform or the aforementioned hard trials, will be much easier if you're equipped with the best gear.
