What is a Minecraft Server?

Minecraft servers are a way to implement multiplayer in the game Minecraft. A server can belong to one person, a small team, or a large company. Servers run on any server and personal computers by activating a custom (spigot, magma, arclight...) or official kernel. Large-scale Minecraft projects prefer dedicated servers (hosting).
You can use your own PC to run and maintain the server, but in this case, it must be turned on at all times, because the server program must be running, which will create an additional load on the computer. The process of starting the server on your computer may differ depending on your operating system.
Game server hosting is a service, the essence of which is that a remote server machine acts as a "host". This is a powerful computer that will process all the data of your server and users will have access to it around the clock. You usually pay for renting such a server machine or a certain amount of its capacity.
