With the arrival of the Primitive Update, Rust server hosting has undergone a major transformation, reverting its technological advancements in favor of a more archaic warfare style. Explosives such as C4 and rockets are now things of the past, along with helicopters, paving the way for medieval siege weaponry, melee combat, and bows as the primary tools of destruction.
In this guide, we will break down the new siege weapons introduced in Rust’s Primitive mode and provide step-by-step instructions on how to craft them to enhance your battle strategies.
How to Get Access to Siege Weapons in Rust
Players can utilize these weapons in both Vanilla and Primitive modes, but unlocking them requires meeting specific conditions.
To craft most siege tools, you must first obtain a Level 2 Workbench, where you can unlock the necessary blueprints. Gathering the following resources is essential:
500 Metal Fragments
20 High-Quality Metal
500 Scrap
An exception exists for the Siege Tower, which is available for crafting at Level 1 Workbench.
Gathering Essential Resources
Acquiring materials for these weapons requires farming and refining various ores and salvaging scrap from other objects:
Metal Fragments – Sourced from Metal Ore, which must be processed in a Furnace or Large Furnace.
High-Quality Metal – Derived from High-Quality Metal Ore, also smelted in a Furnace.
Scrap – Can be harvested by dismantling items in a Recycler, including:
Empty Propane Tanks
Metal Blades
Road Signs
Metal Pipes
Sheet Metal
Metal Springs
Gears
Semi-Automatic and SMG Bodies
Electric Fuses
Tech Trash
Rifle Bodies
To unlock siege weapon blueprints, players must spend 300 Scrap at a Workbench, though blueprints are granted at random. As a result, it may take significant Scrap farming to access all the available siege weapons.
Rust’s Primitive Mode currently includes four siege machines, each with its own crafting recipe:
