Your opponents, armed with massive hammers, presented a serious challenge, but even greater trials lie ahead. Abilities of the Dancing Lion
All the bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree are known for their unpredictability, and the Dancing Lion is no exception. Its first attack is a frost breath that can quickly drain your life if you don’t react in time. If you’re too far away from it, it’s likely to repeat this attack.
After this initial assault, the lion employs fast, aggressive maneuvers, including leaps, spins, and bites. These attacks are sharp and unexpected, making them hard to predict. One of its notable attacks is a powerful head strike upwards after a series of spins, which can easily be mistaken for a less dangerous bite.
In the second phase, the lion uses various elemental attacks. It starts with electric strikes, creating beautiful but dangerous patterns on the ground. It also throws a spear that transforms into a powerful lightning conductor. Its frost attacks are similar, but they form ice pools that eventually explode and cause freezing. The Dancing Lion’s wind attacks involve releasing tornadoes or transforming into one.
How to Defeat the Dancing Lion
Despite the chaos of battling elemental forces, you have the advantage of additional support. You can summon Spirit Ashes, as well as use the Redmane Freyja summon sign right outside the door. However, be cautious, as the frost breath awaits you as soon as you cross the threshold. After the summoning animation, be ready to quickly dodge to the side.
When the lion attacks you, the battle becomes a turbulent melee fight. Mages have the advantage as they can maintain a medium distance and continuously cast spells. Melee fighters must skillfully choose moments to strike, especially after the lion’s spinning combos, and retreat after a few hits to recover.

In the second phase, a more tactical approach is required. Watch for the patterns on the ground from the electric strikes to approach the lion without risking being hit. Avoid standing in areas with high ice activity to prevent the buildup of freezing effects. Retreat when necessary and use Freezing Boluses to recover.
As the lion’s health starts to critically decrease, it switches between attacks. This may seem unpredictable, so it’s important to stay calm and pick the right moments to strike.
After your victory over the lion, you’ll receive a significant amount of runes and a Memory item that can be exchanged for a talisman enhancing storm abilities or for an ice-based attack move. The most important reward is the Divine Beast Head, which boosts stamina, attack, and defense for melee fighters, as well as magical attack and defense. The main drawback is the lack of Focus, making you vulnerable to Madness-inducing attacks, and the large size of the head may obstruct your view.
