In the Metroidvania-style game Animal Well, there are tasks involving freeing cats trapped in cages in the bottom-right biome. You can find five cats in total, locked in cages with black boxes above them, each marked with five lines. These lines are activated by playing the Animal Flute, and the correct sequence of notes will unlock the cages, allowing the cats to escape.

To solve this puzzle, you don’t need to find the correct melodies immediately, as freeing the cats is not required to complete the main part of the game. It is only after viewing the end credits that you can find a natural solution to this challenge.

For those who prefer to solve the puzzle on their own, you will need the following items:

• Animal Flute, which should already be in your possession
• Flashlight, obtained in the final area of the first layer of the game
• Top, acquired in the room with eggs after collecting 32 eggs

Pay special attention to the UV flashlight, which helps explore hidden areas through round gates. Exploring the bottom-right biome will reveal sequences of five arrows etched into the walls. The most noticeable sequence is in the room with an ostrich spinning on a wheel. By recording or photographing these sequences, you can gather all the necessary information to free the cats.

After freeing all five cats, you can receive a reward in a hidden room. This room has two entrances.

By carefully examining the background, you might notice a lynx statue. Using the top under this statue will reveal a secret path. Following this path will lead you to the reward. Once all the cats are freed, the lynx will play a melody of 56 notes, which will open the central cage in the room. Inside is a chest with a wheel, which allows you to move over spikes and interact with mechanisms. This item is key for exploring the game and collecting all the eggs.
