How to Join a Valheim Server
On Valheim servers are surviving in the Scandinavian setting that has become quite popular among players. The game allows you to fully enjoy the Scandinavian atmosphere and feel like a real Viking - build a house, make a drakkar, and tame mythical creatures from legends in bloody battles. At Valheim, you can do all of this in the company of friends, which makes these activities even more interesting. In this article, we will describe in detail how to join the Valheim server so that you can travel with your friends in Yggdrasil as soon as possible.
Connecting by IP address
- To join a Valheim server, you need to click "Start Game" in the main menu.
- After that, you need to select your character using the arrows or create a new one using the "New" button (1) and click "Start" (2).
- In the next menu, select the "Join Game" tab.
- Click "Add server" (1), after that a window will appear on your screen with a line in which you need to enter the IP address of the server you want to join (2), confirm the entered data by clicking "Add server" (3).
- The server with the IP address you specified will appear in the list of servers "Favorite" (1), double-click on it with the left mouse button, or select it with a single click and click "Connect" (2).
- You're done! After load, you will find yourself in the game world of the selected server.
NOTE
The server added as a "Favorite" does not need to be re-entered after restarting the game, it is saved in this tab!
Connecting to community servers
In order to join the community servers, select the "Community" tab (1), after which you will see a list of available servers of other players (2).
NOTE
A Valheim server can accommodate up to 10 players at a time, so make sure that the server you are joining has free space!
Common errors
Failed to Connect
This often means that the game client cannot connect to the server. Try connecting later, the server may be currently down, and also check that the data you entered is correct.
Wrong Password
As a rule, all community servers require a password to join, this error indicates that you have entered an incorrect password. Contact the administration to find a server that does not require a password.
