How to Summon and Beat the Moon Lord in Palworld
The Moon Lord is one of the toughest raid bosses in Palworld server hosting which was added in the latest major update, Tides of Terraria, inspired by the legendary final boss from Terraria. This colossal enemy tests your team’s strength, gear, and strategy to the limit, but the loot is absolutely worth it. Here’s exactly how to summon it, prepare, and win the fight.
TIP
How to Summon Moon Lord
To summon the Moon Lord, you first need to craft a Celestial Sigil, which acts as the key to calling it forth. Getting the sigil involves several steps:
1) Unlock the Celestial Sigil Blueprint
You’ll need to defeat the Eye of Cthulhu, a world boss found inside the Sealed Realm of Terraria. This high-level dungeon sits southeast of Fisherman’s Point and is recommended for players around level 45 or higher. Once defeated, the Eye drops the schematic needed to craft the sigil.
2) Collect Hallowed Bars
The sigil requires 100 Hallowed Bars, which you’ll find inside the same dungeon. Break the pots scattered around and defeat dungeon enemies like Demon Eyes and Terraria-themed Slimes, they drop Hallowed Bars frequently.
3) Craft the Celestial Sigil
With the schematic and bars in hand, use a Primitive Workbench or better to craft the sigil. Double-check your base has enough resources since each summoning uses up one sigil per attempt.
4) Build a Summoning Altar
Next, construct a Summoning Altar. This requires common materials like stone and Paldium Fragments. Many players build the altar away from their main base, as the Moon Lord’s attacks can wreck structures.
Once the altar is ready and the sigil is crafted, you’re all set, interact with the altar to summon the boss.
TIP
Moon Lord Boss: Best Level & Gear
The Moon Lord spawns at level 50 with a massive health pool exceeding 400,000 HP. It deals heavy damage and has multiple phases. You should ideally be at level 60 or above with top-tier weapons, armor, and Pals.
Weapons: High-damage firearms like the Plasma Cannon, Laser Gatling Gun, or Energy Shotgun are solid choices. Bows with powerful arrows also help when you need to hit weak points precisely.
Armor: Equip the best protective gear you have, ideally the Hexolite set or equivalent, to survive its wide-area attacks.
Accessories: Triple Jump Boots, strong attack or defense pendants, and an upgraded shield can make the difference between victory and defeat.
Best Pals for Moon Lord Fight
Bringing the right Pals is crucial:
-
Tanks: Large, durable Pals like Mammorest or Paladius can soak up big hits.
-
Healers or Buffers: Support Pals with healing or defensive skills, like Lyleen Noct, will keep your main fighters alive longer.
-
Flying Mounts: A flying Pal like Jetragon or Xenolord helps you reposition and dodge the boss’s sweeping attacks.
TIP
Moon Lord Fight Strategy
Phase 1: Destroy the Eyes
The Moon Lord has three key weak spots, one on its forehead and two on its hands. These eyes open and close in cycles. When closed, they’re invulnerable, so time your shots and abilities to hit them while they’re exposed. Each eye has its own health bar.
Phase 2: Target the Heart
Once you break all three eyes, the boss exposes its heart. This is the only time you can deal major damage to its main health pool. After a short period, the heart seals back up and the eyes regenerate - you’ll repeat this cycle until the boss falls.
Moon Lord Tips & Tricks
-
Stay Mobile: Don’t linger directly under the boss, its area-of-effect blasts can wipe out you and your Pals quickly.
-
Use Cover: Terrain and structures can block some of its attacks. Position yourself wisely.
-
Fight in a Clear Area: Remove unnecessary structures or valuables nearby to avoid accidental destruction.
-
Manage Aggro: Coordinate with your Pals so they draw the boss’s focus while you chip away at its weak points.

Defeating the Moon Lord is worth the effort. It drops exclusive gear like the Meowmere sword, a unique mask, powerful pendants that boost attack and defense, rare crafting materials, and special items that improve your Pal’s stats and your own carrying capacity.
